This article strives to dissect Imam Said Nursi’s profound expositions of the nature of the jews and their mischief on earth discussed in many places in the Risale-i Nur. These descriptions do not apply to the good Jews. This may help the reader to grasp a glimpse of the divine wisdom behind the ongoing Gazan genocide that we witness.
The Second Holocaust
In a short letter to one of his students Imam Said Nursi writes:
“And they were covered by humiliation and misery.” (Baqara:61)
“The jewish nation has always been excessive in its love of life and this world, and has therefore deserved the blows of abasement and misery it has received every century. However, in the Palestine question it is not love of life and this world, but a significant sort of national and religious feeling because Palestine is where the prophets of the children of israel are buried, and the prophets belonged to their nation. In consequence they have received no swift blows. A small group could never otherwise have held out in the midst of the vast Arab lands; it would quickly have been humiliated.” (The Rays, p.504)
A subtle allusion is given in the above exposition to the conditions under which the jewish nation receives blows of abasement in a future situation, as if it is their inalienable fate every century.
Most horrific scenes coming out of Gaza for the last little-less-than two years depress some, causing tremors in their Iman. A text book grade genocide is ongoing amidst the dreaded silence of the ruling class in many parts of the Muslim world despite all its massive resources, the mouths and hands of their subjects firmly sealed. Those with fair degrees of faith in the power of Allah sink in the swamp of hesitation, hackled by the devastating storm of the media. Their eyes see only gloom and ears hear only wails as if an honourable nation of Iman is left to die on its own blood, abandoned by the Almighty Creator.
But those believers firmly rooted in knowledge and understanding, instead of hoovering around events and burying their heads in sand from frustration, seek to unearth the divine wisdom behind this unbearable horror. While their hearts wrench heavily for the sufferings of the people in Gaza they remain firmly convinced in the divine decree: “Nothing will befall us except what Allah has decreed for us; He is our Protector. Let the believers, then, put all their trust in Allah.” (Tauba:51)
Being haunted by the horrific memories of the holocaust, the jews believed the state of israel has provided them a safe roof above their heads to feel at home. But October 7th attack suddenly churned up that memory among vast majority of israelis whose knowledge about holocaust is limited to textbooks and sermons. They view it as the second holocaust. Since its founding in 1948 israel stunningly won all wars it fought with mighty conventional Arab armies and guerilla forces, that too short wars inside the enemy territories as dictated by israeli war doctrine. What dominates the israeli psyche at present is a blend of rage, vengeance, insanity and humiliation for the simple reason that it fights with impoverished packs of “rats” (in the eyes of israelis) emerging from Gazan holes – its invincibility narrative is shattered as a myth. The stunning attack was used as a convenient pretext to unleash a genocide with impunity, describing it as a moral fight against barbarity, as if the Palestinians were living in paradisical luxuries.
No force can beat the zionists in portraying falsehood as truth, as it is deeply embedded in their culture; scheming is a distinguished jewish way of life. Even shaytan would envy their cunning mastery in brutal oppression and gaining worldwide sympathy for doing so - This goes true with the unparalleled professional excellence of israeli intelligence agencies on world-scale.
Duplicity Exposed
Imam Said Nursi expounds the duplicitous nature of the jews broadly as follows:
“And you will indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life. (Al Baqara:96) * And you see many of them racing each other in sin and rancour, and their eating of things forbidden. Evil indeed are the things they do. (Al Maida:62) * But they [ever] strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loves not those who do mischief. (Al Maida:64) * And We gave [clear] warning to the children of israel in the Book, that twice they would do mischief on the earth. (Al Isra:4) * And do no evil nor mischief on the earth. (Al Baqara:60)”
“These two statements of the Qur'an directed at the jews, comprise the two fearsome general rules, that their nation hatches plots in human social life with their trickery. For they have shaken human society by making labour contest capital and causing the poor to clash with the rich by founding banks through usury and compound interest, and amassing wealth through wiles and fraud. Moreover, it was again that nation who, in order to take their revenge on the victors and governments under which they had suffered deprivation and oppression, were involved in every sort of corrupting covert organization and had a finger in every sort of revolution.” (The Words, p.424)
Their second mischief quoted in the above Qur’anic verses is quite significant for our age.
End of the World War-2 brought a new system of governance to the world, giving birth to the United Nations. The Europeans fought bloody wars amongst themselves, lynching each other brutally, most brutal being the 1st and 2nd WWs. In the early 1940s no one could have imagined the French and the Germans sitting peacefully on the same table like today. After waking up to the truth that war is evil they engaged in a coveted soul-searching and formulated what is termed as Western Values. The post-WW Two saw another creepy yet very significant development and israel was born amidst the complex web of chaos, boasting itself as an enlightened state surrounded by a jungle of uncivilized bedouins.
In 1953 david ben-gurion, israel’s founding father, relinquished his prime ministerial burdens and retreated to his village home in southern israel for contemplation aiming to draft israel’s security concept. The touted concept was the outcome of lengthy human experiences without much reliance on acts of Allah, as bulk of israel’s architects believed in religion only for political expediency. As a state israel has always remained in religious hues, perverting religious texts, taking them out of their proper context in order to distort their meaning as the Qur’an describes. ben-gurion had grasped the full spectrum of reality aptly. With envious cunningness he elaborated how the nature of relationship with the natives should be, articulating that israel’s survival solely depends on the pitiless destruction of the Palestinians, proving his dictatorial ruthlessness: “Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves. Politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves. The country is theirs, whereas we want to come here and settle down.” (Quoted in Noam Chomsky’s “Fateful Triangle”). In his memoirs he said, if he was an Arab leader he would never sign an agreement with israel. He argued, that the Arabs see but one thing: “we have come and stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”
ben-gurion’s core doctrine rests solidly on callous disregard for international laws in protecting israel’s interests to the exclusion of others. He always believed, regardless of israel’s superior military strength the country cannot persist without a superpower’s sponsorship, which glaringly corroborates with the Qur’anic truth quoted below. At present it is the american sponsorship that protects it, as Allah’s protection has long been removed. Until the founding of their country bulk of them lived humiliated in diaspora, the word “ghetto” was synonymous with them.
“Wherever they were, they were covered with ignominy, except when they were protected by either a covenant with Allah or a covenant with men. They are laden with the burden of Allah's wrath, and humiliation is stuck upon them.” (Al Imran:112)
Transgression and hubris are their unextractable nature and practise them recklessly when they gain authority, as separating mischief from the body of bani israel is like camel passing through the needle’s eye. Imam Said Nursi quotes: “and they go about trying to spread mischief on earth, whereas Allah does not love those who spread mischief.” (Al Maida:64) (The Words, p.424)
Gazan genocide blatantly exposed the utmost level of duplicity in practising the purported Western Values. The Western world swiftly vowed to implement the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant on Russian President Vladmir Putin for war crimes in Ukraine but wholeheartedly embraced israeli Prime Minister benjamin netanyahu, a proven war criminal with an ICC arrest warrant on him, on their soils. The usa went a scandalous step ahead and sanctioned ICC prosecutors. Absolute display of bias. This is only one ugly example of how the global zionist lobby tampers with international law. israel’s atrocious habit of flouting UN Resolutions since its founding has now reached its climax after which no norm remains to be respected, a clear sign that it will take the post-WW 2 system to the grave. These are some facets of bani israel spreading mischief on earth.
israel has reached its most extreme manifestation of violent behaviour, using most technically advanced cruelty to torture, humiliate, kill and maim the scale of which human imagination has rarely seen before. The severity of brutality has surpassed Hiroshima atomic bombings; systematic famine, precision-bombing of hospitals, medical staff, journalists, destruction of vital lifelines like water, food trucks, aid-seekers and forced displacement all add up to its barbarism. The mental sickness it has reached is so deep that illegal settler groups organize boat tours to Gazan sea for the purpose of watching apartment blocks being bombed and neighbourhoods decimated. Using telescopes, families with their children gleefully watch the plights and screams of dying people. They are proud of this naked behaviour like the people of the pit (As-hab Al Ukhdud). Committing all cruelties in the book and sealing all paths of return to sanity, israel now resembles a slaughtered cattle which throbs aggressively before dying reaching its declining stage, as history of a nation passes through three phases: rise, stability and decline. This appears what renowned jewish historian Ilan Pappe alludes:
“Historically, I’m willing to say with some caution that this is the last phase of zionism. Historically, such developments in ideological movements, whether they are colonials or empires, it’s usually the final chapter [that is] the ruthless one, the most ambitious one. And then it’s too much and then they fall and collapse.”(www.aljazeera.com – 14 January 2025)
Imam Said Nursi alludes to this fact in a brilliant Qur’anic perspective:
“Thus they were stamped with humiliation and indigence.” (Al Baqara:61)
“With this, it describes generally that nation's future destiny. It is because of these fearsome rules governing the destiny and character of this nation that the Qur'an acts so severely against them. It deals them awesomely punishing blows. You may draw analogies from these examples with the other stories and passages about Musa (alayhissalam) and the children of israel. There are very many flashes of miraculousness like the flash in this Fourth Glow behind the simple words and specific subjects of the Qur'an. A hint is enough for the wise.” (The Words, p.424)
Brightness Behind Gloom
israel has miserably lost the war in Gaza, only excelling in the genocide in its comprehensive meaning. If nearly 6000 dead and 15000 injured soldiers with depression and suicide among soldiers unprecedently on the rise, and essentially utter powerlessness in rescuing any prisoner of war held in Gaza means anything, it is only momentous defeat. More than 70% in the army and 71.6% of the people display alarming levels of war fatigue upon the inglorious magical tonic the present fascist government thrusted on their throats – driving the population out of Gaza, rescuing all prisoners of war without a deal and delivering a death blow to the resistance. No sane person can join with netanyahu’s pathological lies about absolute victory ignoring the two million israelis living in bomb shelters periodically and 500,000 dual-citizenship holders who left the country during this war in fear.
The world’s first livestreamed genocide fulfils a remarkable Qur’anic promise. The Qur’an foretells about two colossus mischiefs that bani israel would commit, which Imam Said Nursi quotes above. They are not one-off events but large scale in time period, length and magnitude, institutionalized with global significance. Majority of the scholars believe the first mischief occurred during the period after bani israel deviated from the teachings of Prophet Sulaiman (alayhissalam). The second corruption is what we live today, beginning from the founding of israel on stolen Palestinian lands. Classical scholars had interpreted this promise differently, as they could not foresee the emergence of israel as a powerful state. But Imam Said Nursi lived to witness its founding, hence he viewed it in a much broader sense as we saw at the outset.
The condensed glimpse that Surah Isra, verses 4-8 provide is the key basis to construct clear opinions about the first and second mischief and transgression of bani israel. Their first transgression was quelled by a mighty force consisting servants of Allah. What relevant for us here is their second transgression. We practically witness all characteristics of mischief in israel – tyrannical power, dominance, wealth and children, multiplied numbers which entails formidable technological advancement and global influence. At the end of the verses Allah (Subhanehu we teala) foretells about their downfall, which history proves as the natural outcome of tyranny. As Imam Said Nursi boldly expounds tyranny is inherently powerless:
“It is not possible through tyranny and injustice to destroy reality; Try to annihilate the heart, if you can, in humankind. Or, it is not possible through tyranny and injustice to destroy virtue; Try to annihilate the conscience, if you can, in humankind.” (The Flashes, p.226)
Risale-i Nur provides a graphic example of how divine intervention arrives in dire circumstances quoting the story of Prophet Yunus (alayhissalam). “In that situation all causes were suspended, for Jonah (Yunus) needed to save him one whose command should constrain the whale and the sea, and the night and the sky. The night, the sea, and the whale were united against him. Only one whose command might subdue all three of these could bring him forth on the strand of salvation. Even if the entirety of creation had become his servants and helpers, it would have been of no avail. For causes have no effect. Since Jonah saw with the eye of certainty that there was no refuge other than the Causer of Causes, and unfolded to him was the meaning of divine oneness within the light of divine unity, his supplication was able suddenly to subdue the night, the sea, and the whale.”(1st Flash, The Flashes)
Divine intervention arrives when all human endeavours rendered utterly powerless and tyranny crosses all bounds. Al Aqsa flood of 7th October was a supernatural divine intervention arrived at a time when the Arab regimes were racing to normalize relationship with the zionist state, nefariously aimed at making the noble Palestinian cause as israel’s exclusive issue to be resolved internally without any kind of foreign involvement and propelled back the Palestinian cause up to the world stage. Al Aqsa is a sacred trust and throughout history divine intervention arrived to protect it when men conspired to sellout. Gazan genocide is very painful but naturally that is how major transformations occur in history, as expounded in: “We wanted to bestow favour on those who were oppressed in the land. We wanted to make them leaders and heirs.” (Al Qasas:5) These verses talk about delivering bani israel from pharaonic tyranny and their empowerment, under the leadership of Prophet Musa(alayhissalam). End of tyranny is freedom but one should keep in mind that end of Gazan genocide won’t usher in immediate liberation of Al Aqsa. That will inevitably happen, as Allah (subhanehu wa teala) drives events according to His own plan. Let us walk through briefly some of its tokens that have appeared to soothe the breasts of believers:
1- A dreadful volcano is erupting in the israeli society as its core is already rotten. The gap of rift between tel aviv based secular zionist leadership, Western European descendants who claim to be the true founders of israel and the Jerusalem based ultraorthodox and most fanatical leadership who holds the present government in their firm grip, Eastern European and Soviet Union descendants who claim to be the rightful owners of the land promised by God has widened alarmingly. israel’s preoccupation in the Gaza war only postponed a full blown civil war and will resume with high intensity once it is over. Finance Minister bezalel smotrich and National Security Minister itamar ben-gvir, impulsive and hasty individuals and two horns of shaytan, hold the present government by its neck. These two convicted criminals by israel’s own courts together with netanyahu drive the genocide for their own political survival, holding a tiger by its tail. Former Prime Minister ehud barak warns of a bleak future: “I will conclude by saying that there is only one threat to israel today, which in light of our historical experience – its nature and strength – could make it existential. And that is the internal crisis, the internal rift and the growing hatred between jews. Unrestrained incitement, fanaticism and factionalism that worsen year by year.”( https://www.yediot.co.il – 8 April 2022). Now in 2025 israeli experts who ring alarm bells have only multiplied. Present generation is far from the spirit and dedication of ben gurion’s generation, but one indulging in sedentary lifestyles with low degrees of fighting spirits.
2- The war in multiple fronts have all taken heavy tolls from israeli economy. Until early 2025 the war has sucked 41 billion dollars. Only Iranian misadventure of April 2025 has costed 28 billion. Giant tech companies, mostly belonging to tel aviv based secular jews, have moved to safer countries, in protest with the Jerusalem based fanatical rulers. israel’s pride and most advanced merkava tank is losing reputation among foreign buyers after some 250 of them were destroyed by light weapons in Gaza. israeli army heavily depends on reservists and recruited 300,000 of them for the war at high costs. According to German based jewish economic expert Dr. Shir Hever, the economic sanctions has resulted in skyrocketing of property prices due to building material crisis. He described it as “zombie economy”.
3- Surah Isra, verse 7 talks about disfiguring the faces of bani israel during their second mischief. Its chilling manifestation now appears everywhere with the world turning against the israeli narrative. israel has lost the media war miserably in the face of highly creative and psychologically effective new media campaigns worldwide. Gaza played a significant role in donald trump’s victory, as US Muslim community took a strategically wise decision to abandon joe biden either by voting for trump or abstaining. This was coupled with a rapid increase in questioning the unconditional support for israel with american taxpayers money among the younger generation, who too significantly contributed in the change of government. trump is no a lesser-evil zionist but for the first time in american history Palestinian issue played a central role in influencing voters, severely distressing israel. This trend will only increase vigorously in future elections. trump’s voter base, MAGA (Make America great again) movement is divided with highly influential podcasters enjoying tens of millions of followers and renown opinion leaders raising their vehemence to blind support for israel. This trend was unthinkable before and a nightmarish death-knell for the zionists.
4- netanyahu and some of his military top-brass stand accused of war crimes before the ICC. One should underestimate these unprecedented developments at the cost of his own ignorance.
5- Syria’s freedom from the horrific Asad dictatorship is a glad tiding, removing a major hurdle in the way of Al Aqsa’s liberation. Many Hadith foretells freedom of Sham as a prelude to the freedom of blessed Al Aqsa. Its present leadership has proved their political acumen through the inclusive approach they adopt, including opening new chapters with the US and Europe and the wider Muslim world.
6- Iran’s formidable retaliation has nakedly exposed israel’s utter vulnerability terrifying its leaders. For the first time in history, Iran’s ballistic missiles reached all strategic parts of israel and created devastating impacts, inflicting heavy psychological pain. President trump was compelled to intervene on behalf of israel and secure a ceasefire through mediators.
7- “Curse of the eighth decade”: It is a deep-rooted belief among israeli philosophers and historians, and has sparked great apprehensions in the recent years in view of appalling degrees of internal rifts within the society, as the country approaches its 8th decade in 2028. Historically jews had two states, Kingdom of David and Hasmonean Kingdom. Veteran political commentator Menachem Rahat (https://mizrachi.org/) vociferously argues that both kingdoms disintegrated not by external attacks but jewish infighting.
Beneath the rosy picture painted by the mainstream media and interest groups, a vicious stream of frustration running grimacing the hearts of israelis, as nachman shai, former minister of diaspora affairs whines: “Anyone who looks at israel in 2025 finds before them the advanced and updated edition of the jewish Wars Model 2.0 (Model 1.0 is war with aggressors and 2.0 is internal strife). Hundreds of thousands of israelis are not sleeping at night… because they are genuinely worried about their sons and daughters, their grandsons and granddaughters. In short, for their family members who are in danger of death an hour’s drive from home (in Gaza). Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and who knows what else awaits us, are open fronts that exact a human and psychological toll from the state of israel every day and night. The only ones whose sleep doesn’t seem to wander are the members of the government…” (Maariv newspaper, 16 August 2025)
Gaza genocide is a true divine test for the entire Muslim Ummah. Every soul martyred will testify before Allah about all those who failed to discharge their duties in preventing it according to their capacities. Everyone is ought to reflect on what they have done before staring at the failures of others. As death is decreed before birth, it is our strong belief that those who were murdered are living in the highest paradise, receiving sustenance from their merciful Lord. As for the oppressors and evil-doers, degradation is their worldly fate and mighty chastisements lie in store for them in the eternal hell after their death.
The Muslim Ummah survived worst kinds of debacles like the Mongol invasion of Baghdad by its spirits of Iman. Gaza will be rebuilt by the steel-willed people like Germany and Japan were rebuilt after the WW Two.
Imam Said Nursi’s persistent statement revives hopes in the hearts of the believers:
“InshaAllah, through the strength of Islam in the future, the virtues of civilization will prevail, the face of the earth cleansed of filth, and universal peace be secured.” (The Damascus Sermon, p.38)
